The Centre Simpson Cross Launches Its New Website
Spring is now upon us, and with it comes the welcome return of our Garden Club. Members are already eager to get started with planting and growing produce once again for the Honesty Shed.
It’s always wonderful to see the gardens come to life after winter, and we’re looking forward to another productive and colorful season. Over the past year, the Book Swap has been a brilliant success. Many of you have taken part by donating and discovering new reads, helping to create a lovely community space for sharing books. Thank you to everyone who has supported it - it’s been fantastic to see it so well used.
We are also super excited to share that just in the last week we have secured funding from Welsh Government Newid for the third sector by WCVA for a brand new website. Once it is up and running, you will be able to log on and easily check our diary of events, classes, hall availability and community updates. We’re really looking forward to having an online space that keeps everyone informed about what’s happening at the hall. We are also delighted to share some positive updates to our facilities over the winter. The disabled and family facilities have now been refreshed and baby changing station has been installed, work on the gents’ toilets is currently in progress, made possible with the generous financial support of Milford Haven Port Authority, ATEB & Solva Edge. We are very grateful for their assistance in helping us improve accessibility and comfort for all hall users. Last year also saw the hallway redecorated, thanks to Wickes for kindly supplying the materials. The result was an amazing transformation and has really brightened up the entrance to the hall.
Safety improvements have also been carried out, including the replacement of the non-compliant internal fire doors and the installation of a new loft ladder, making access to the storage area much safer. In the kitchen, we now have a new electric cooker from funds raised through events. Whilst a fridge, and freezer have been upgraded with a modern, energy-efficient appliances, also food making equipment has been purchase with the financial support of Pembrokeshire Local food partnership. We are pleased to report that hall hires have increased substantially over the last 12 months. This additional income has allowed us to purchase the final requirement of modern, easy-stack chairs, which create more usable space in the hall and make it easier to accommodate larger events.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support the hall - whether by volunteering, attending events, hiring the space, or contributing in other ways. Your support helps us keep improving our community facilities for everyone to enjoy. We look forward to seeing you at the hall over the coming months!
